THE VISION
It is with great enthusiasm that we announce that the Mississippi Express Basketball Organization (MEBO TEAM HOOD) has agreed to new multi-year NIKE Elite Youth Basketball contract. It has always been our hope that such a partnership could aid in our mission to push the culture of basketball forward in the state of Mississippi and surrounding areas. It pleases us greatly to know that NIKE shares in our enthusiasm and has chosen once again to make MEBO TEAM HOOD a flagship program. We feel honored to have served and offered a top tier platform for so many talented young student athletes and their families throughout our brief history on the Elite Youth Basketball level and look forward to serving many more.
With this being said, MEBO along with NIKE has identified some opportunity areas on which we are actively working hard to improve in efforts to ensure the longevity and success for our kids. MEBO has stood out over the years as a program built on integrity and honesty, not only with our parents and players, but also within our organization. We appreciate NIKE’s candidness and transparency and will thankfully and strategically follow their formula to building the healthiest and strongest grassroots program possible. For the Spring & Summer of 2020 we will not be competing in the 17U EYBL. We will however compete on the NIKE E15 and E16 circuits with focus being placed on developing and elevating our younger age groups in preparation for a return to 17U EYB. We agree with NIKE’s decision and view it as an opportunity to revitalize and grow.
In our brief history, 26 of our former players and/or alumni are playing basketball collegiately with nearly half playing on the Division I level competing in top conferences like the SEC, Big-12, Pac-12, Conference USA, Atlantic 10, and the Missouri Valley Conference. Although these accolades serve as a vivid sign that we are indeed headed in the right direction, they are not a testament to how great a program MEBO has been, but a testament to how great the talent in our area has been. We are just a vessel who will continue to play our role in getting the talent in our area the exposure and more importantly the guidance that they deserve. Our continued goal has been to establish an elite youth basketball organization that will rival some of the best youth basketball organizations in the country by providing a positive environment to nurtureand enhance basketball skills, self-confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship. We will continue to PRESS FORWARD towards our goal and will remain committed to growing basketball in our great state.
